Do I get a certificate?

Yes, you do. But it depends on the type of course as to which certificate you receive.

The following certificates are awarded in the Gua sha certificate courses and involve modular courses, tutorials, quizzes, exams and online practical assessments.

  • Level 1 course: Certificate of Achievement which awards Gua sha Practitioner status.
  • Level 2 course: Certificate of Achievement which awards Gua sha Expert Practitioner status.
  • Level 3 course: Certificate of Achievement which awards Gua sha Master Practitioner status.

The following certificate is awarded in the Introduction to Facial Gua sha course and does not involve exams or assessments.

  • Introduction to Facial Gua sha: Certificate of Attendance

I'm an estetician. Would I benefit from completing a course?

I'd say that half of the graduates of my courses have been working in the beauty industry. The benefit of studying Gua sha is in opening up your knowledge base to include a way of looking at the body and the face which is totally different from what you had previously.

It all depends on how deeply you wish to delve into the world of Gua sha. The Introduction course gives you all the basics and the visuals to follow in order to perform a Facial Gua sha treatment. And the level 2 course goes a step further and makes you a Gua sha specialist in Facial Gua sha. It gives you a deep understanding of the muscles and soft tissue connections of the face and exactly where to treat on the face and body to give totally unique beauty treatments. Remember that you first need to complete the level 1 course in order to fully understand level 2.

Is it worth your hard-earned money?

If you’re trying to master Gua sha on your own, it’s probably going to be tough.

You’re probably going to go through a lengthy trial and error period where you don't really know what you're doing. You may then blow some money on a mediocre Gua sha course by someone who barely knows more than you.

But, if you do have someone to back you up, then mastering Gua sha without all the drama is within reach. Especially when that person is still excited about Gua sha as they were 20 years ago and never stops trying to expand the limits of what can be done! Which makes the $$ worth it, not simply in the amount of wasted time, effort and costs that you'll avoid, but in all that specialized knowledge which is near impossible to find normally.

Just like my student, Betty, was able to surprise her diabetic Chiropractor by reducing his symptoms of numbness after one treatment using the principles of ecological Gua sha.

Let me help you navigate mastering Gua sha, so it’s worth your your hard earned money.

I'm not trained in anything else. Can I do your Gua sha training course and can I use it to treat professionally?

The certificate courses are aimed at professionals in the health and wellness sector but if you've read any of my books, you'll know that I try my best to break things down and explain them in the clearest way possible. This means that the course is also applicable to people who don't yet have the skills to treat others and wish to specialise in Gua sha. This is the reason I have included the professional insurance information which you will find in another one of these FAQs.

Is the course recognised?

It is impossible to create one qualification to fit every country in the world. In my research, I found so many dubious 'associations' which will rubberstamp any course if you pay their fee, so I have avoided putting meaningless badges of associations on the site purely for marketing purposes.

For Continuing Professional Development purposes the course is recognised in the USA by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) for CEUs. Level 1 is eligible for 14 CE hours. It is also applicable for many CEU/CPD/PDA Certification programs in the UK and other countries. If you have any specific query about recognition, contact me for clarification.

Do I have to download anything special to do a course?

No, all the courses are online. The videos can be watched from any device connected to the internet. The text files appear on screen and if there are quizzes and exams, they are multiple choice online. The tutorial and assessments for the certificate courses can use whatever video technology you have available e.g. your mobile phone camera.

How quickly will I be able to complete the course?

The certificate courses are normally completed over a month. This allows time to do tasks, quizzes, tutorial, comments etc.

The Introduction course is released in its complete form when you register and you can complete the course at your own pace.

What if I have questions after the course is complete?

After you complete the course, you still have access to the material and to our internal messaging system. This means you have an easy way to ask any question and get a fast response to it, anytime!

Can I get professional indemnity insurance after completing a course?
