For more than twenty-five years, Clive Witham has dedicated his career to the study, practice and teaching of Gua sha.
His work has taken him from clinical practice and international teaching to doctoral research in China, where he continues to explore the historical development and modern application of Gua sha. Alongside his research, he has authored six books and trained practitioners from more than thirty countries.
Throughout that journey, one question has remained constant:
How can Gua sha be taught in a way that develops independent practitioners rather than simply reproducing techniques?
That question led to the development of Ecology in Motion™, a framework that encourages practitioners to understand the relationships that shape the body rather than memorising treatment routines.
Today, Clive continues to teach internationally while leading the development of the Komorebi Institute. His focus remains the same: to provide rigorous, practical education that helps practitioners build confidence, improve their clinical reasoning and deliver meaningful results for the people they treat.
When you study at the Komorebi Institute, you are not simply learning a method. You are joining a community committed to raising the standard of professional Gua sha through thoughtful practice, continued learning and genuine curiosity.
